Barbecue Season is here and i’m addicted! Honestly, all I want to do is pull out my traeger and grill erraythang!! If you follow my instagram feed then you will know that I get A LOT of use out of my bbq and try to use it as often as I can throughout the summer. 1) because I love the flavours 2) because as a Canadian gal living in Calgary…we really only get a few months where it doesn’t feel FREEZING so I try to get as much use out of it as possible.
The marinade i’m about to share with you all is absolutely delicious and a must add to your bbq routine! I have used this to make korean short ribs and often use it as a marinade to flank steak. Everyone who has tried it, LOVES it.
You will need a blender for this recipe because it’s one of those recipes you where you throw everything in the blender and blitz until it’s smooth. You can see through my blog that most of my recipes are no fuss type of recipes because that’s how I roll.
The other amazing thing about this recipe is that it’s completely paleo! WOOT WOOT! If you aren’t following a paleo diet or care at all about paleo, no worries, I have added in easy kitchen substitutions that most people will have on hand. I got you people…I got you! The only other ingredient to this marinade that I don’t always have on hand is the asian pear. If you can’t find one or don’t have one on hand, you can totally substitute with an apple.
Get your ingredients ready to go…
Now throw everything in the blender and blitz. For non Paleo followers, instead of coconut aminos use Soy Sauce or Tamari and instead of Coconut Sugar…just use regular sugar. All good here.
Now get out your meat, place in a ziploc bag and then pour the marinade over top. Remove air from freezer bag, seal and then massage the marinade in to the meat to make sure it’s combined. Let your meat marinade for at least 8 hours (or overnight) because it will have maximum flavour when grilled!
PRO TIP: Sometimes I will make this marinade after i’ve completed the grocery haul and then I throw the meat with the marinade in the freezer. This way when I find out friends are coming over for dinner last minute or I need an easy weeknight meal to just throw on the grill…the meat marinades while it’s defrosting and it’s one less thing for me to do. You. Are. Welcome.
Grill up your steak or short ribs to your desired liking and get ready to WOW your family and friends.
