Mood: Posh and Sinister-The Chocolate Dipped Strawberry Smoothie

Chocolate Dipped Strawberries always make me think of fancy hotels.  They are typically part of room service or swanky catered parties and they just scream indulgent and fancy schmancy.  Not that I frequent hotels or have the money to stay in posh hotels but it makes me think back to a time when I used to work in the hotel industry for a pretty upscale property.  Okay well…to the paying guests, it was an upscale property but to us employees it was just a way to pay our bills and perpetuate the illusion that everyone was ‘somebody’ when we were really just a bunch a rug rats, having fun.

I used to run up to the VIP floor as soon as the ‘happy hour’ was over in hopes that there was left over appetizers up for grabs.  On occasion there would be some chocolate dipped strawberries that looked like little tuxedo’s with white and dark chocolate and they were delightful!  The perfect pick me up.  They kinda looked like this:

I don’t have the time or the patience to make something like that at home but man I miss the taste of those little flavour gems so I decided to make a smoothie that gives me that feeling of naughtiness and feeling ultra posh in the comfort of my own home.

First you need to get yourself some frozen strawberries.  I used the ones from Costco because as you can tell, we make a lot of smoothies up in this house!

See...it even says grade A fancy

This smoothie only involves a few simple ingredients but trust me, put on that white bathrobe and sip on a little bit of indulgence cuz you are about to start singing ‘I’m so fancy’

Chocolate Dipped Strawberry Smoothie

Ingredients

  • 1 cup frozen strawberries (or about 4 or 5 large frozen strawberries)
  • 1 cup vanilla almond milk (if you don’t have vanilla or are using regular milk, just add a splash of vanilla extract)
  • 1 1/2 – 2 Tbsp of cocoa powder (it seems like a lot but you want an indulgent chocolate taste)
  • Vanilla Extract (Optional, if you want it a tad sweeter)

Directions

Blend all ingredients in a highspeed blender and voila
